Training for Onshore Emergency Management Support Teams
  • Course Aim:

    This course is designed to train new or refresh existing EMT and CMT Members in the principles of Incident Command System Strategy and Tactics, enabling them to be both proactive and effective support and liaison members within the companies ICS structure.

  • Objectives:

    To introduce the underpinning knowledge required by members performing the roles within the EMT and CMT groups. The program is bespoke where possible to synchronize what industry best standards are and how the company works within the guidelines of the industry and legislative requirements.

  • Course content:

    Roles and ResponsibilitiesGathering Incident Intelligence and Delegation
    Establishing a Control StructureLeadership and Team Management
    Communications ProcessesPost Incident Management
    HR and Media Liaison Issues (condensed version) Incident Control and Resource Deployment
    Prioritizing Tasks and TacticsStress Management

  • Competency:

    All participants will be assessed on performance within their designated roles within the team and will receive a certificate of attendance. Though there is no formal assessment process, the team and key lead members will be evaluated against known standards of competency using tailor made appraisal tools specific to the companies expectations.

  • Pre-requisite:

    This program requires that attendees are designated as members of the Crisis or Emergency Support Management Teams. Numbers of attendees are limited to no more than eight personnel.

  • Course Duration:

    The course is designed to be conducted over a two (2) day period in your own Emergency Command/Coordination Centre.

  • Method of Training:

    This training is delivered in a holistic manner, and consists of theory sessions on day one and half of day two followed by interactive scenario based Practical sessions for the remaining period. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate understanding of the program and its content during the practical sessions, scenarios will be developed based on existing ER documentation. On completion of each scenario a structured hot debrief will be carried out highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of the team.
