Scope
The aim of the additional Shallow Water CA-EBS training is to complement initial and further offshore safety and emergency response training and assessment (i.e. T-BOSIET, T-HUET or T-FOET) for personnel travelling to an offshore oil and gas installation by helicopter (in a warm water tropical environment) when issued with a Shallow Water CA-EBS.

General Course Objectives:
During this course, delegates will gain the required knowledge and understanding of the particular hazards and properties of a Shallow Water Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (Shallow Water CA-EBS) and appropriate practical emergency response actions to take, should the requirement for emergency deployment arise.

Course Content:
During training, delegates will learn
  • Fundamentals of Shallow Water CA-EBS, differences from other EBS devices and their advantages & disadvantages.
  • The operation of Shallow Water CA-EBS equipment
  • Hazards associated with Shallow Water CA-EBS
  • Donning of and pre-donning checks of Shallow Water CA-EBS life jackets
  • How to deploy Shallow Water CA-EBS both in and out of water.

Prerequisites:
  • Valid medical certificate, valid BOSIET, T-BOSIET, FOET or T-FOET certificate
Certificate:
All persons who successfully complete the course based on the performance standards will receive
  • A PT Samson Tiara certificate approved by OPITO for Shallow Water CA-EBS Initial Deployment (5903); and
  • A laminated wallet course qualification card.
* Note:
  • The Shallow Water CAEBS ID certificate is valid for up to four years but will only remain valid in conjunction with a valid OPITO BOSIET / T-BOSIET, FOET / T-FOET, HUET / T-HUET (or Industry agreed equivalent) certificate.
  • Revalidation of Shallow Water CAEBS ID training must be achieved through subsequent OPITO BOSIET / T-BOSIET with CA-EBS, FOET / T-FOET with CA-EBS, or HUET / T-HUET with CA-EBS.
