Tropical HUET – Emergency Breathing Systems Training (THUET-EBS)

• This course is designed to complement initial onshore safety and emergency response training and assessment for personnel traveling to an offshore oil and gas installation by helicopter (in a warm water tropical environment) when issued with an Emergency Breathing System (EBS). People that wish to attend this program have to be in possession of a valid TBOSIET or T-FOET certificate. The THUET-EBS course can also be attended as an add-on to the T-BOSIET or T-FOET. When added to the T-BOSIET it will be integrated in the HUET module and thus no extra training day is required. Refresher training is recommended every 2 years.
  
  What is the EBS?
  

  The EBS is designed to increase survival time during a helicopter emergency, prior to escape from a submerged cabin. The Air Pocket came into service in 1996, and is well proven. It is in service with major oil companies worldwide. Training in the use of EBS is required for working offshore in Malaysia, Australia, Brunei and many other countries around the world.

  The EBS comes in two types, the Airpocket Plus (APP) and the LAP-Jacket. The LAP-Jacket consists of the APP integrated in an aviation lifejacket. Samson Tiara has both types of available for training. The EBS has been developed to address the “Cold Shock” symptom, an involuntary response to immersion in cold water, which results in gasping for air, and to support the user during the underwater escape from a helicopter which has ditched in the sea. The re-breathers are simple to use, but practical skill training is required. The breathing bag is generously over-sized to contain the air charge plus any breath from breath-hold, without producing over-pressure.

• Accommodation:
  The course fee covers: Transportation to/from station pointed in Jakarta to/from the training center at Cilegon, Banten, stand by Paramedic, student’s workbook, usage of training equipments, certificate/ID card and lunch on day of training. All prices exclude PPN 10%.
  
  
• Course Equipment:
  Samson Tiara will provide coveralls, shower kits (towel, soap and shampoo), water shoes, safety glasses, safety helmet and safety shoes for fire fighting practical, except personal swimming suits or shorts for water exercises during practical.
  
• Certificate:
  All persons who successfully complete the course based on the performance standards will receive
  • A PT Samson Tiara / Survival Systems Asia certificate approved by OPITO for Tropical – Emergency Breathing Systems Training (THUET-EBS) Course Code 5996; and
  • A laminated wallet course qualification card.
