A fire can occur anywhere, any time, and when you least expect it. The difference between a minor incident and a major catastrophe comes down to how the incident is handled in the first few minutes. From sounding the alarm, safely evacuating others and quickly and correctly acting to contain or extinguish the fire, the actions carried out in the first minutes of a fire situation are crucial.
Samson Tiara offers a range of training programmes to teach everyone how to handle fire emergencies, from the very basic levels to advanced. For office workers and those living in highrise apartment blocks we offer two very important courses to help minimise the risk of catastrophic damage and loss of life: Workplace Fire Safety & Fire Warden training.
Workplace Fire Safety
This program is designed to provide personnel working in High-rise, Office, Industrial, commercial, or institutional facilities who are not members of an Emergency Response Team with a basic understanding of fire hazards in the workplace, preventative measures and appropriate responses to a fire emergency. Delegates will develop skills associated with the use of fire extinguishing devices and alarm systems primarily to safely evacuate themselves and others from a fire situation in the workplace.
This course is delivered using the revolutionary BullsEye™ Digital Fire Training System. The BullsEye™ is a laser-driven fire extinguisher training system. It is effective to teach incipient fire fighting to both indoors and outside. It was made by Bullex / Haagen and comes with a high quality, waterproof LED screen, modified laser extinguisher and smoke generator. It simulates 3 different fire types that can be easily distinguished by their sound. It reduces the risks to as close to zero as possible, while still allowing the delegates to learn and practice the correct techniques.
Fire Warden
It’s a fire warden’s responsibility to set an example of how to behave during emergencies. Emergencies can be very stressful. Because of the tense atmosphere that may arise from such incidents, it’s imperative for fire wardens to know how to behave during these situations. Some situations call for an authoritative attitude, while some cases require a more calm approach. A fire warden needs to be able to discern which approach is appropriate for any given situation, to ensure the safety of the persons looking to them for instructions on how to proceed during an emergency.
This one day course has been developed to provide potential fire wardens with a theoretical and practical understanding of the typical functions of a fire warden, they will learn the basics of how fires start and spread, how to maintain calm and direct others, how to identify potential hazards and learn how to assist with the development and implementation of emergency evacuation arrangements.
