- Aim:
The aim of this course is to train students to react to and to survive a helicopter
ditching at sea and to participate to a maximum extent in their own rescue. The
training is comprised of classroom sessions on aspects of offshore helicopter operations,
Safety and survival equipment, and procedures for ditching preparation, helicopter
evacuation and sea survival and rescue techniques. The highlight of the course is
surface and underwater evacuation exercises conducted in the Modular Egress Training
Simulator (METS)™. The METS™ utilizes functional replicas of the emergency
exits installed in the helicopters currently flying offshore in Indonesia. This
gives the student realistic and ‘State of the Art’ training with the same type of
equipment they will be functioning in a real situation. Practical exercises include
sea survival exercises at sea using helicopter liferafts and life jackets, flare
deployment and rescue from the ocean.
